Those that study balance are very difficult to knock over or push around - very useful in protecting the throat and belly areas. This means that they are a lot more resistant to physical attacks than the normal wolf, able to stand their ground a lot better and react to or shield themselves from an incoming attack.  Outside of combat, they are more able to keep their balance when on narrow ledges or even while performing acts that might otherwise be treacherous.

Important:  Balance is a sub-skill of flexibility, which means that it may not be chosen as a starter skill on character creation, nor can it be gained via XP until the primary skill of flexibility is at apprentice level.  Once the primary skill is at apprentice level, you may gain this new skill for 500 xp, filling an additional skill slot. As well, Instead of taking up an additional skill slot, you may instead replace the primary skill at apprentice level with this skill for 500 xp.

Possible Abilities & Skill Levels

Beginner

Beginners cannot be brought down by other beginners, however many larger animals can overturn them.  They have slightly better balance than an average wolf.  In a combat situation, this wolf cannot easily be knocked over or pushed around, and 3% of any physical damage (ie. damage done with a physical skill) done to them is negated.

Apprentice

Apprentices cannot be brought down by other apprentices, or by beginners. They are more resistant now to larger creatures, but can still be knocked over by larger beasts such as moose or bears. Compared to other wolves, they are fairly proficient in keeping their balance.  In a combat situation, 6% of any physical damage (ie. damage done with a physical skill) done to them is negated.

Adept

Adepts can be brought down only by masters and champions. Creatures of a size with bald bears (or greater) can still bring down an adept.  These wolves now have the ability to balance on narrow areas with good success of not falling. In a combat situation, 12% of any physical damage (ie. damage done with a physical skill) done to them is negated.

Master

Masters can be brought down only by champions, and can only be knocked over by creatures of massive size. These wolves generally have no problem scaling a narrow precipice with ease or perching on a narrow ledge. In a combat situation, 18% of any physical damage (ie. damage done with a physical skill) done to them is negated.

Champion

Champions cannot be knocked down by anyone or anything, no matter how narrow the ledge is or how shaky the ground.  In a combat situation, 24% of any physical damage (ie. damage done with a physical skill) done to them is negated.
